In response to the growing interest from parents and younger individuals in Mensa Taiwan, and in order to establish a clearer and more accessible participation framework in compliance with applicable regulations, Mensa Taiwan will, starting this year, implement a trial program allowing eligible under-18 applicants to participate in Mensa Taiwan’s application process.
This includes registration for the in-person intelligence test, as well as arrangements regarding post-qualification membership status and participation in activities. The relevant guidelines are outlined below.
📌 This trial program applies only to applicants who are at least 12 years old but under 18 years of age in the year of application.
Trial Program for Under-18 Applicants: In-Person Intelligence Test
Previously, under-18 applicants seeking to qualify for Mensa could only do so by submitting an official Wechsler Intelligence Scale report (WISC / WAIS) for eligibility review.
Considering the advantages of in-person testing in terms of fairness, accessibility, and overall experience, Mensa Taiwan will, during the trial period, open designated in-person intelligence test sessions to eligible under-18 applicants.

Post-Qualification Membership Status
Under-18 applicants who meet the Mensa Taiwan qualification standard either by passing the Mensa Taiwan in-person intelligence test or by submitting an official Wechsler Intelligence Test report (WISC / WAIS) are subject to the following arrangements.
In accordance with regulations governing civic associations (non-profit organizations) under the jurisdiction of Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior, Mensa Taiwan is not permitted to accept individuals under the age of 18 as official members.
Therefore, qualified under-18 applicants must first apply for membership with Mensa International, which does not impose an age restriction.
Mensa Taiwan will assist by conducting an initial eligibility review; upon confirmation, the application will be forwarded to Mensa International in accordance with established procedures.
After obtaining Mensa International membership, under-18 applicants may, in accordance with Mensa Taiwan regulations, participate in selected Mensa Taiwan activities as Guest Members.
Their qualification status will be retained, and upon reaching the age of 18, they may apply for official membership with Mensa Taiwan in accordance with the regulations in effect at that time.
