2025.09.22

We’re excited that more and more people are hearing about Mensa Taiwan! As a mysterious organization with the ultimate goal of unifying the world and conquering the universe, we know you must have lots of questions—like how to join, what you can do after joining, whether food is involved, or even… how many noses does Jacky have?

Mensa Taiwan FAQ

Q: When is the next test? How often are they held?

A: In Taipei, tests are held every two months. In central and southern Taiwan, they are scheduled irregularly. The exact time and location are usually announced about one month before each test.

Q: Can someone under 18 take the test? Is there an age limit?

A: Currently, only individuals aged 18 and above may join Mensa Taiwan. While Mensa International does not impose an age restriction, due to local legal requirements, Taiwan and some other East Asian Mensa groups do not accept members under 18.

Q: How long is the test? What time does it start?

A: Please reserve a two-hour time block for the test and explanations before and after. Tests are usually scheduled in the afternoon. The specific time will be announced for each test session.

Q: When will I receive the results?

A: Results are sent within one month after the test.

Q: When will I receive an admission ticket or exam instructions?

A: We do not issue admission tickets or printed instructions. After you register, you will immediately receive an email notification (via KKTIX) with the test time, location, and important notes.

Q: In what language is the test conducted?

A: Sorry, to ensure fairness, we cannot disclose details about the test content in advance.

Q: I already have a Wechsler intelligence test report from a hospital. Can I use it to join Mensa?

A: Mensa Taiwan accepts Wechsler test reports issued by public hospitals in Taiwan, provided the report bears the hospital’s official seal and the examiner’s signature. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and the test must have been taken within the past two years (counting back from the application date). An additional verification fee, as announced by Mensa Taiwan, will apply.

Q: Is there a registration fee or membership fee?

A: The test registration fee is NT$2,200. After qualifying, the annual membership fee is NT$1,200.

Q: What is the admission standard for Mensa?

A: The standard is the same worldwide: the top 2% of the population in terms of IQ.

Q: How can I contact Mensa Taiwan?

A: Please contact us via Facebook Messenger or email through our official website.

Q: How many times can someone take the test in their lifetime?

A: Currently, each person may take the test a maximum of two times in their lifetime, with at least a six-month interval between attempts.

Q: How should I prepare for the test? Are there past exam questions available?

A: You may train your mind with puzzles such as Sudoku. We do not provide past questions, as repeated drilling would go against the original purpose of an intelligence test.

Q: I took an IQ test online. Can I use that score to apply for Mensa?

A: No. Online IQ tests vary in quality and lack credibility. If a test can be taken casually online, it cannot be considered reliable.

Q: Can foreign Mensa members join Mensa Taiwan events?

A: Absolutely! We warmly welcome members from other Mensa groups.

Q: Will I know my exact score after the test? How is it reported?

A: Results are reported in percentile form, such as “top 1%,” “top 2%,” etc., showing where you rank in the general population. Since different scales use different IQ numbers, we do not provide a single number to represent intelligence.
